About Us

We are an ecotouristic farm that seeks to conserve and protect nature, by promoting a cultural & environmental exchange among adventure tourism, local communities, agricultural activities and diversity of natural ecosystems.

Our schedules are from 8:00 a 16:00 h, but we are also open to night tours. Located at The Bamboo Farm, 15 km from Manuel Antonio National Park and 7 km from Quepos village.

Nacarcosta is a family business, its name represents the essence of our family. In Spanish the ‘’Nácar’’ nacre in English, also known as mother of pearl, is a biomineral very precious that we find in the coast.
Costa Rica is committed to the conservation and preservation of its biodiversity. We are part of responsible tourism in natural areas that support the well-being of the local population, engage in education and good practices without compromising the balance of nature.

We would like our country and our company to become the ‘Nacre of The Coast’. A very precious place, distinguished for its efforts and commitments to the environment.

Garbage collection program in mangrove canals

We encourage our visitors during kayak or boat tours to collect garbage in the mangrove canals, to contribute to a positive change and to enjoy a more beautiful coast.

We have the four-star ecological blue flag

The Ecological Blue Flag is an award, which rewards the effort and voluntary work of the different local committees that seek to improve hygienic, environmental conditions and as a tool to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

We practice agroforestry

Land-use management system in which trees are grown in agricultural landscapes. To provide food to animals, protect the edges of rivers and canals, increase oxygen production, sequester carbon from the atmosphere, create a barrier against coastal flooding and expand the biodiversity of the humid tropical ecosystem.

We raise free range animals

On our farm we sustainably raise chickens, goats, sheep, geese, donkeys, cows and water buffaloes, based on the principles of permaculture.

We grow sustainable palm oil

We are sustainable producers of oil palm, the oil from our farm can be marketed as RSPO oil (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil).

We grow organic food, herbs and flowers

We make our own compost, part of what we grow includes coconuts, bananas, pineapple, pitahaya or dragon fruit, cassava, passion fruit, sugarcane, corn, medicinal plants, and tropical flowers.

We use natural resources in a sustainable way

We collect water for our supply, use the sun to produce electricity and build with materials from our environment without compromising the balance of the ecosystem.

We preserve endangered species

We plant endangered plant species, as well as edible forests to provide food for animals that are threatened by the changes to which planet earth is subjected.

We build with natural materials

We promote sustainable tropical architecture and landscaping, using the flora and materials that we can easily obtain from our environment, native to our region. Building a mimetic architecture and according to the landscape, wood, bamboo, and palm used, for example, come from our farm or local farms to generate community. The material extracted from nature is reforested to maintain the balance in the ecosystem.

We promote environmental education

Part of our initiative is to live a conscious and responsible life with the environment. Our facilities promote environmental education through informative signs along the trails, composting, recycling, agroforestry, building sustainably, among other practices so that Costa Rica is always, Pura
Vida!
